Empowerment Retreat for Girls

APRIL 9-10th STANLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL

Roots and Wings is a joyful, creative experience designed to help girls grow strong roots in who they are… and discover the wings that will carry them forward.

Growing Up Is Beautiful… and sometimes tricky. The years between childhood and adolescence can be full of wonder, curiosity and creativity. But they can also bring new challenges.

  • Friendships become more complicated.

  • Natural confidence can drop

  • Girls begin comparing themselves to others.

  • They start wondering if they are “good enough”.

  • They begin worrying about what people think of them

  • AND they often start disconnecting from their body.

Roots & Wings is designed to support girls right at this important stage — helping them build confidence, connection and self-belief before the pressures of the teenage years fully arrive. Over two days, the girls will explore creativity, friendship, emotions, and personal strengths through a series of engaging and playful activities. They will leave with new friendships, new skills, and a stronger sense of who they are.

The program combines:

  • creative art

  • storytelling

  • movement and play

  • teamwork activities

  • reflection and self-expression

All delivered in a warm, welcoming environment where girls feel safe, supported and encouraged to be themselves.

This is not school. This is a space for curiosity, imagination and connection.

Strong Roots

Building a sense of self.

Girls will explore:
• who they are
• their unique strengths
• what makes them special
• how to trust themselves

Activities may include creative journaling, art, storytelling and reflection.

Wings to Grow

Developing courage and confidence.

Girls will explore:
• trying new things
• expressing their ideas
• being brave and creative
• celebrating each other's gifts

Through group activities, creative challenges and playful exploration.

Friendship and Kindness

Understanding relationships.

Girls will explore:
• what makes a good friend
• empathy and understanding others
• navigating tricky social situations
• including others

Through storytelling, role play and discussion.

Who Is This For?

Roots & Wings is ideal for girls aged 9–12 who

  • enjoy creative activities

  • would benefit from confidence and friendship skills

  • want to connect with other girls in a supportive environment

No special skills or experience are needed — just curiosity and an open heart.

Why This Age Matters

Research shows that confidence in girls often begins to decline around ages 9–13.

  • resilience

  • creativity

  • positive friendships

These are skills that will support them not only through school, but throughout their lives..
